First apparition in Medjugorje and the visionnaries

First apparition

The date of the first apparition, for the group of six visionnaries who see Our Lady on the hill, was 25 June 1981 and the Lady says: “Praised be Jesus!”

The six visionnaries

The six visionnaries are : Ivanka, Mirjana, Vicka, Ivan, Marija and Jakov.

Dialogue between the visionnaries and Our Lady (summary of the first messages)

Ivanka asked the question (26 June 1981)

  • “Why have you come here? What do you desire?”
  • “I have come because there are many true believers here. I wish to be with you to reconcile and convert the whole world,”

Mirjana asked the questions (26 June 1981)

  • “Who are you?”
  • “I am the Most Blessed Virgin Mary.”
  • “Why are you appearing to us? We are not better than others.”
  • “I do not necessarily choose the best.”

The visionnaries asked the questions

  • “What do you wish?”
  • “That people believe and persevere in the faith.”
  • “What do you expect from the priests?”
  • “That they remain strong in the faith and that they help you.”
  • “Why don’t you appear to everyone in church?”
  • “Blessed are they who believe without having seen.”
  • “What do you wish from the crowd which has gathered here?”
  • “ That those who do not see believe as those who see.”

29 June 1981

  • “What do you expect of the people who have come in spite of the brambles and the heat?”
  • “There is only one God, one faith. Let the people believe firmly and do not fear anything.”
  • “What do you expect of us?”
  • “That you have a solid faith and that you maintain confidence.”

12 October 1981

  • “Are you the mother of God?”
  • “I am the Mother of God and the Queen of Peace.”
  • “Where are the Kingdom of God and paradise?”
  • “In Heaven.”
  • “Did you go to Heaven before or after death?”
  • “I went to Heaven before death.”

  • “How can one put priests, who do not believe in the apparitions, on the right track?”
  • “It is necessary to tell them that, from the very beginning, I have been conveying the message of God to the world, to convert the whole world. It is a great pity not to believe in it. Faith is a vital element, but one cannot compel a person to believe. Faith is the foundation from which everything flows.”
